We all need human connection, and we need it more than ever when we are pregnant and during those early days and weeks of mothering. There is something missing in our modern society that, rather than bringing people together, separates us behind closed doors. Women, babies and families thrive when they get the right type of support.

The old saying is that "it takes a village to bring up a child". Well, it also "takes a village" to support women through pregnancy, birth and mothering. Kathleen and Ciara know firsthand what good support looks like and they also know what is missing. Midwives and mothers themselves, they have created a space that brings the right people together at the right time. A wrap around service that offers support in so many ways. Their commitment to fostering connection and providing holistic individualised care promises to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women, babies, and families.

As a woman who longed for this kind of support during my own pregnancies, I am genuinely overjoyed to see The Village come to life.

The women behind it are phenomenal, deeply compassionate, wise, and fiercely committed to walking alongside mothers in a way that feels truly human.

This service fills a gap so many of us have felt for far too long, offering the kind of care that holds, honours, and aids women in finding their own power through birth, pregnancy, and motherhood.

As someone who had to search far and wide, trawling the internet to find the care and support I needed during my first postpartum period, I can’t overstate how much The Village concept means to me.

During a time when I was already struggling, it was exhausting trying to piece together the right services on my own.

The type of full spectrum, women centred care The Village offers is exactly what I needed back then. A safe, consistent space held by women who truly understand. The compassion, wisdom, integrity and women behind this service are remarkable.

It fills a long standing gap in our community, and I’m so thankful it now exists all in one place for mothers and families in Perth.

It was so reassuring that I know there is a place I feel safe to reach out if I have any problems postpartum, I haven’t had the best experience with hospitals and general health practitioners so it means a whole lot knowing there is support if needed at the village.
